Say hello
Okaybit is provided by Karol Bąk, trading as WebTie Agencja Interaktywna Karol Bąk.
For a technical issue, it helps to include your iPhone model, iOS version, Okaybit version (shown at the bottom of Settings), what happened, and what you expected. A screenshot can help. Please leave out your glimmers and anything private we don’t need.
Common questions
What is a glimmer?
A glimmer is a small good moment worth keeping: a warm drink, a kind message, a bit of sunshine on the wall. Add one from Today or from the jar in You. Tap the jar for a random one from the past, or search the list. Adding a mood is optional.
Why is there no story today?
Stories need a connection. Without one, Today shows the last story it saved, or a glimmer from your jar instead. There are never more than three stories a day, so once you have read them, that’s it until tomorrow. That’s on purpose.
How are stories chosen?
Stories come from good-news sources and are checked automatically before they can appear: anything about death, violence, disaster or serious illness is filtered out, and so is anything that dresses up bad news as good. A few are picked by hand. You see a headline, a short summary written in our own words, the source, and a link to read the full piece on the publisher’s website.
A story upset me. What can I do?
Tap This upset me under the story, or press and hold it, then pick a reason. The story disappears from your phone straight away, and we get an anonymous note to take another look. Nothing about you is sent.
How do I add a widget?
Touch and hold your Home Screen, tap Edit then Add Widget, and search for Okaybit. Choose Glimmer jar, Quote of the day, Today’s tiny thing, or Add a glimmer, which also works on the Lock Screen. Widgets update when you open the app.
The seasons look wrong.
Open Settings and pick the hemisphere you live in. Seasons shape some activity ideas and the tags on your glimmers.
Will my glimmers move to a new phone?
Okaybit has no account and doesn’t sync. Restoring your iPhone from a backup may bring Okaybit’s data with it, depending on your backup settings. You can also keep your own copy with Settings → Export my data.
What are letters to future you?
In You → Letters, write a note to yourself that opens in three months, six months, a year or on a day you pick. It stays sealed on your phone until 9:00 that morning, when a notification lets you know. You can tuck in a glimmer from the day you wrote it.
What is the note wall?
An optional board of short, anonymous, kind notes from people using Okaybit. Open the Wall tab and tap Show me the notes. Each phone can leave two notes a day, and you can put a pebble on the ones you like. Every note is checked automatically before it goes up. The terms of use have the ground rules.
A note on the wall upset me. What can I do?
Tap the three dots on the note. Report it hides it for you straight away, and a note that several people report comes down for everyone. You can also hide just that note, or block whoever wrote it so you never see their notes again. If a note needs more than a report, write to hello@okaybit.app.
How do I delete my data?
Open Settings → Delete everything and confirm. It removes your glimmers, letters, activity history and settings from this phone, takes any notes you put on the wall down, and can’t be undone. There is no account to close. Read the privacy policy for the details.
Is Okaybit therapy?
No. Okaybit supports everyday wellbeing with small, gentle ideas. It isn’t therapy or a medical service, and it can’t help in an emergency. If things feel like too much, please talk to someone you trust or your doctor.
Does it cost anything?
Okaybit is free. There are no ads, no subscription and no account.
For publishers
If we have featured your story and you would like a summary corrected or removed, write to hello@okaybit.app. Please include the story’s link. We only show a headline, our own short summary and a link to your page, never the full text.
